I am looking for information about Rosa Johnson. She was born in Liberty Township, Plymouth County, Iowa in October of 1880 to Mathias and Rosena Johnson.
Mathias' parents came from the Limberg, Netherlands region and he obtained a land grant under the name of Mathias Jannsen in Liberty Township in 1874.
Rosena's parents came from Wurttemburg, Germany. Her last name may have been either Jarger, Yeager, or Neager. Any information narrowing that search down would also be greatly appreciated.
Other children, all born in Plymouth County, Iowa were:
-Lizzie, born in April, 1874 (married to Isaac Moist and Anton Tronnes and lived in Plymouth County)
-Mathias, born in 1878 and died in 1872
-Katie, born in May of 1882 (married to Herman Smith and moved to South Dakota - she is my grandmother)
-Lena, born in March of 1884 (married to George W. Grant - lived in Plymouth County for a while, then moved to South Dakota)
-Mary, born in May of 1885 and died in April of 1897
The parents both died early (Mathias in 1885 and Rosena in 1896), so the girls ran the farm. Rosa was listed as the owner in 1900 and ran the farm with two of her sisters. A letter puts her in Liberty and Johnson Townships in Plymouth County in 1905, but I cannot find any trace of her after that. I have tried to check out all the Rosa's in the Census files, but none have panned out.
If anyone has any information on Rosa or any of the family members, I would sincerely appreciate it.
