Natascha, Indeed, Sipke is a female name. But see the spelling: Sipke, not Sipkje; that is impossible. The suffix -ke has the same meaning as -je. -ke is very common in dialects to tell that something is small. A huis (huis); a small house = huisje or huiske. I speak this too, many times a day e.g.: Meiske = my dialect (= meisje so called official Dutch) for a girl. With many variations. So, bord (board) and bordje or bordeke. But I am not going to teach you Dutch dialects or Dutch language. We are on the wrong track. I found the family in Oudewater; but it is in Harlingen (province of Friesland) as we say. Looking and searching on http://www.genlias.nl/en/page0.jsp you will find several times Sipke van der Werff. Harrie Notify Administrator about this message?
