Judy Smoes was born on August 31st, 1948 in Hallum, The Netherlands and passed away suddenly on June 8th, 2009 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 60 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband; Joe, to whom she was married for 36 years, her children; Brent (Elizabeth Van Dalfsen) Smoes, Amanda (Karl Podolski) Smoes, Shelley (Mark) Nielsen and Carla (Wes Deugau) Smoes, her grandchildren; Faith, Christina and Ashley Nielsen and Hannah and Noah Podolski, 1 brother; Ken Swart, 5 sisters; Jan Bakker, Ann (Cory) Visser, Joan (Gus) Vander Meulen, Tina Pelech, Mary (Ken) Forster along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; Simon and Joan Swart, 2 brothers; Robert and Peter Swart and 1 sister; Thea Kingma.
Judy was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and demonstrated her faith by showing love to everyone she met with her beautiful smile and kind words. She cherished her husband, children and grandchildren, always making them her priority. She enjoyed spending her leisure time crocheting, sewing and cross-stitching creating beautiful mementos of her love, which she gave away.
Mom, you will be greatly missed being a part of our lives.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery on Tuesday, June 16th, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. A Memorial Service will follow at Vernon Full Gospel Church at 1:00 P.M. (5871 Okanagan Landing Road) with Reverend Wilf Burger and Herb McCormack officiating.
As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Judy to the charity of their choice.
