Nethers family collection
I am aquainted with the widow of a Ray Nethers whose father was Jake Nethers.Jake
apparently collected a "substantial amount" of genealogical/family history material on a
branch of the Nethers family that first lived in Virginia (Nethersville??)and later moved to Ohio.
Ray inherited the material when Jake died.Ray apparently was not too interested in the
material, and he stored it in "boxes" in the 2nd story of his barn (well protected); we live in
Albuquerque where the weather is dry and fairly mild.I haven't seen the material but hope to
locate and examine it sometime in the next few weeks.I understand it contains deeds, personal
documents, photos, and other family history materials.
The widow is not interested in pursuing Nethers family history, and she may be willing to
donate the collection to a public archive but not to a private person. The National Archives is one
obvious location, but it probably would take several years for the staff to accession the material.
Does anyone know of another public archive (something like the "West Virginia Regional History
Collection) that might be interested in housing the material and making it accessible?
