Granville Newble
Hello Everyone~
I am looking for information on Granville Newble born in Tennessee on 3 March 1888 to Silas Newble (born in Virginia) and Ellen (Matthews) Newble (born in Virginia). On 15 November 1907, Granville married Ruth Tribble (Trible/Tribble/Tribel) in Vigo County Indiana. Ruth was the sister of my second great grandfather, Henry Tribble. I am trying to learn as much about the Tribble's and whom they married as possible.
At the time of Granville's marriage, his parents, Silas and Ellen were living in Whiteville, Hardman County, Tennessee. Apparantly, there were quite a few Newbles in this area and I am certain at least some of them were related to Silas and his family. I can not find any information on Granville aside from his marriage to Ruth. I would love to know if they had children or anything as they would be my cousins--the nieces and nephews of my 2nd great grandfather. A C. Newble signed as a witness on behalf of Granville for the marriage record.
From another researcher at another list, it has been determined that perhaps Silas as well as a few other Newbles in the area were probably the slaves of a wealthy man by the name of E A Newbell who died in 1865 (lived in the same area in 1850 and 1860). I have yet to verify this, however hope to do so some time in the future.
I hope to hear from anyone who may think there is a connection. Newble is not a direct line for me, however, I am very interested in learning about those my direct and collateral ancestors married in hopes of understanding them a little better.
I am planning to write the four living Newbles currently living in Whiteville within the next few days to see if there is any connection as well.
