Patti, just noticed your query. My family line originated in Derbyshire Eng, circa 1600's. Came to Spanish Wells 1800, and there John Solomon Newbold SR who reportedly swam ashore after a ship wreck, was buried. According to my mother, now deceased, who did the genealogy, several Newbolds still reside in Spanish Wells. My direct line starts with John Solomon Jr, B 1811, D 1893-97 buried Spanish Wells. Much of this information is contained in the book, Miami Florida Early Families and Records by Oby J Bonawit. My mother contributed to the section, The Newbold Families of Miami and the Bahamas through her research findings. This book was printed I think privately and copyrighted in 1980. Through my mother, I inherited a charcoal picture of my GGGrandfather, Benjamin Ralph Newbold, from 1864-65.
Although listed as Harold, I have gone by Randy for 60 years, and I hope this post is helpfull.
