Hannah Richardson Newbold 1809
In the collection at the Santa Ynez Historical Museum in California, there is a small, old, cracked, brown, covered teacup. It is 2 inches across, and 1 inch deep, It never had a handle, and it has a decoration of blue and white design on the sides and top.
Inside the lid is glued the following inscription on a yellowed slip of paper, written in very beautiful, but tiny script.
"Once belonged to my great-grandmother Hannah Forster HRN
Her maiden name was Core.
Presented to my dear niece Jennie?J---ie on her 21 birthday by her loving aunty Hannah R. Newbold12.19.1885 "
The niece's name is difficult to read, it starts with a J, then 3 letters, and ends ie.Trying to research the family, I think Hannah R. Newbold's maiden name was Richardson, and they were Quakers that lived in Pennsylvania.I think Hannah's husband was Josiah Newbold.
