1930 USC No. Dartmouth, Bristol Co., Mass, shows Abraham J (age 56) widower, Abram J., Jr.,(age 17) single. Abram, Sr., is shown married for 21 years.
1880 USC at No. Dartmouth, Bristol Co., Mass., shows Abraham J (age 7) with his parents John M. (age 34)& Ruth E Niles (age 26)Other younger siblings are Thomas H., Elizabeth B. & Mary E.Also an older man Levi (age 78) .
1850 USC New Bedford, Massshows Levi Niles (age 47) and wife Elizabeth (age 49) with son John (age 3). Other older and younger siblings are Lydia, Thomas H., & James B.F. An older woman Sarah (age 69) is with the family. She may be Levi's mother, born abt. 1781.
1840 USC New Bedford shows Levi (age 30 to 40) wife age 30 to 40. One son & dau both aged under 5 years. Note, 1840 censuses, and earlier, give the names of the head of household only.Levi is residing between Daniel & Stephen E
Eldredge, which might be of sigificance or not.
I'm not able to identify Levi's father's name using censuses earlier than 1840. His mother was Sarah and if she was interred at the same lot with her son her husband may be there too with a marker with his name. Most of the Niles families in that area probably descend from David (b Braintee Ma 20 Aug 1700; d Middleborough Ma 1766)(Benjamin 3, Joseph 2, John 1) Niles.
Any info from someone in the area who could search for a marker for Levi & Sarah would be appreciated!
