All my Niven family antecedents up to the immigration to Canada in 1924 and 1926 were from the Glasgow, Lanark,Dysart, Markinch, Govan,Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland district. The marriage of my immediate grandparents Agnes Reekie Niven and Robert Niven was in Scotland, as was the marriage of my grandmother Agnes' parents marriage:Angus Niven and Mary Chalmers Wallace;Mary Chalmers Wallace parents were William Wallace and Ann Smith, and William Wallace's parents were David Wallace and Mary Chalmers. My grandfather's parents were John Niven and Rebecca Arbuckle.John being the son of Robert Niven and Agnes Reekie whose marriage also took part in Scotland.Rebecca's parents were Thomas Arbuckle and Rebecca Darkies.I'll give you some dates: Robert Niven married Agnes Reekie on January 21, 1843, Dunfermline, Fife,Scotland Scotland; John Niven married Rebecca Arbuckle on July 17, 1874 Milton, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland; Angus Niven married Mary Chalmers Wallace, January 6, 1873 Dysart, Fife, Scotland; Now, I don't know if the names Wallace, etc. are significant for you so here goes:Mary Chalmers Wallace father William Wallace married Anne Smith, February 14, 1846 Dysart, Fife, Scotland; David Wallace father of William, married Mary Chalmers (Chamblers) about 1817 in Markinch Fife Scotland.William was born December 21, 1818 in Mrkinch. On my mother's side which is another kettle of fish Robert Fairbairn married Helen Milne on November 23, 1823 Saint Cuthberts Edinbourgh, Midlothian Scotland. We have been able to verify that Helen was the daughter of Peter Milne and Elizabeth/or Elsepth. We have been most successful both visiting the LDS centre locally, and using the LDS internet. We were, however, fortunate to have good leads prior to the search.Slainte!!!
