I am curious to where you found that quotation. Christopher VanSant's shipyard was near Central Avenue in Egg Harbor Township (Bargaintown) just south of the Mill Pond (which is also called Bargaintown Lake) Later, it had to be moved because of bridges that were built, one on Poplar Avenue 1817 and then one at Ocean Heights in 1819. The final shipyard was in Somers Point near the end of New Jersey Avenue on the Bay. I do see on a map that Scull's Bay is not near Patcong Creek but off of the other end of Poplar Avenue, between Absecon Island and Linwood. Maybe Winner's Landing was on Scull's Bay.

Here is a website about shipbuilding. It also has some old maps that might help you understand what I'm saying.

Maybe someone at the Linwood Historical Society could help you. Their website ishttp://www.linwoodnj.org/
