My ggg-gf Edward P. Asay was born in Burlington county about 1820, according to his obituary. He married Hannah Van Note in 1838 in Monmouth county. He was a brickmaker by trade and you can see from where he's found in the census that he traveled around a bit. 1840 Freehold, Monmouth 1850 East Windsor, Mercer 1860 New Hanover, Burlington 1865 Howell, Monmouth 1870 Howell, Monmouth 1880 not found 1892 died in Monmouth Beach, Monmouth According to the obit he was a preacher in the "local" Methodist Espiscopal Church for 35 years. He must have started preaching sometime in the 1850s but I've found no references to him in that capacity anywhere. One of his sons was born in Wrightsville in 1847 (my gg-gf, Daniel {V or D} Asay) and another son died in Asbury Park but was buried at Wrightsville, so there's some connection to Wrightsville. I don't know who his parents or siblings were and I don't know where to look next to try to find them. Does anyone know if the Baptism records at the ME church in Wrightsville were filmed by the LDS or transcribed in a book anywhere? I was surprised there was only one message on this board with the surname ASAY because a lot of them came from Burlington County and I would have thought other Asay researchers would have left messages. If anyone has any information they think would be helpful, please contact me. Thanks. Jo Notify Administrator about this message?
