I am trying to find out if there are still any Lightfoot descendants of Hollis Lightfoot in Camden or in deed New Jersey. Hollis was the brother of my great grandfather Harry Lightfoot. Both these 2 brothers named their eldest son James. I believe that it was this James who used to write to my own grandfather James until his death in 1953. I did post a couple of messages on different genforum sites and I got a reply of the 1930 census and Hollis was still alive then living in White Gloucester City. He was 67 years of age and wife was a Mary C. 66 years of age and I think Mary was his 2nd wife?. Hollis was living with his son James and wife Emma who had a son Fred. Hollis had a brother Fred who visited him in 1901 and in the Ellis Island ship manifest also mentioned a cousin Francis Lightfoot of Pittsburgh. I did find Francis on the 1880 census who also had a father named James and it seems this Lightfoot family had lived in the USA for some time. As I have not found Fred since 1901, I am wondering if he also emigrated to the USA. My own father still living at 83 years of age remembers his father getting letters from the USA but does not remember the name of the person. He does however remember his father telling him he had an Uncle James in the USA, so hence these letters probably came from him. I do hope to find out more about Hollis, if not his descendants.
