Thanks so much for the info. Do you have the publication and year of death for Charles J. Corbett? I would appreciate that very much. Also I do not have the obit for Jane Corbett, who died December 1881. I have the obit for Jane Corbett, who died in February 1908. Finding that obit sent me on a long trail of research for a few years until I realized that she was the third wife of James Corbett. The wife Jane that died in 1881 is the mother of at least 10 children and John was the first born. And yes, her maiden name is McWilliams and she was born in Tyrone County, Ireland. I have more data on her and the family if you are interested.
The listing for John Corbett, who died in Phila in 1912 is a mystery to me. John died before 1895 as his wife is listed as a widow as you found. I also found her on the 1900 census as a widow but found no records after that date. But I did find a record of a John A. Corbett, Corp. Company B, res. Philadelphia, PA. (NGP), Enrolled April 28, 1898. Mustered In May 13, 1898; Discharged, Philadelphia, PA., October 25, 1898, Per General Order 124 and 130 A.G.O. He served in the Second Regiment Pennsylvania Vol. Infantry. - Record of Penn. Volunteers in the Spanish American War, 1898, compiled by Thomas J. Stewart, second edition, 1901, pg. 70. This may not be our John. Oddly this John enrolled on the same day that his cousin, William John McWilliams enrolled. Did they enroll together? I also previously checked the burial records for Lafayette cemetery and no John Corbett is shown in the records - but these were reconstructed records and some burials may be missing.
Are you related to this line? Jane McWilliams Corbett, d. 1881, is my Great Aunt. She lived next door to her brother, Moore McWilliams, who is my GGrandfather in Phila. If you are researching this line please let me know and we can share more data. Thank you for sharing your info. Carole
