I am aware that Rio Grande County was once named HILDRETH, have just returned from a visit to Suffolk County, L.I., N.Y. searching for old graves. Missing are still those of Jonathan Hildreth who was born before 1658, and James Hildreth Jr., son of James Hildreth Sr. of Bridgehampton NY and grandson of Thomas1. He is alleged to have "gone to New Jersey" and Hildreth relatives in North Carolina say he died there in 1771.

It is necessary to track back to Thomas Hildreth who died in 1657 in Southampton in order to figure out the lineage. This is difficult due to so many repeats of the names James and David. The Hildreth Family Association is undergoing an intensive search in both England and this nation in order to find and document the origins of all Hildreths. Any help any one can provide is most welcome.
