Source: Newspaper - Cape May Wave, New Jersey dated March 19, 1904; Page 1, Column 2. Albert L. Haynes, one of Cape May's largest real estate owners, prominent in business circles and identified in a large number of undertakings that tended towards the advancement of the city, died at his home in this place, early Monday morning from Bright's disease, after an illness of three months. He was sixty-nine years of age. Mr. Haynes was born in Deposit, Delaware County, New York, March 2, 1835. After obtaining an academic education he came to Cape May City, and for a number of years was principal of the public schools. Later he entered the mercantile world and conducted a stove and tinware store on Mansion street. He served as a member of City Council in 1887, 1888, and 1889, and was a member of the County Board of Freeholders from 1891 until 1897. He was a charter member of the Cape May Building and Loan Association, and a director of the First National Bank. His wife, who was Miss Orilla Reynolds, also of New York, is seriously ill with the same disease which caused Mr. Haynes death. Three children survive-Mrs. George R. MacKenzie, Mrs. A. Walter Roseman, and A.T. Haynes, all of Philadelphia. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon and was largely attended. Services were conducted by Rev. Spooner.
