This is an e-mail I got from a lady who knew a little bit about the Garretson's but didn't know how Frank I. Garretson (Poppi) was related... Sent: Wednesday, January 9, 2008 7:16:13 PM Subject: garretsons at head of river cemetary posting in genforuum Just read your posting of 6/14/06 (my wedding anniversary) I do not know exactly who your grandfather is, but as far as I know Milton and Townsend were brothers. Annie E, was their mother. The garretson family from what I have been told lived in my house at one time, before 1900, (this is why I am interested). They also lived across the street, For sure!) There was also a sister, (I think) to Milton and Townsend, who lived to be over a hundred. Her married name was Ingersoll and she is also buried at Head of the River. The lady that inherited her house, the one across the street from me, was Edith Navone (originally Garretson) She lived in Vineland, and her brother lived near to her. The house sat for several years unlived in. Edith told me that Annie Ingersoll was her great aunt. She told me that Reuben lived in my house and he was her grandfather. I am not sure which Reuben, I am trying to find that out. There was a family bible in the house (across the street) that was sold with it. I cannot Find what was done with it, I was told that it had been donated to a historical society, but cannot find it locally. There was a list of family members in there that I copied by hand, but only goes to 1837. There was also a picture of my house that Edith said was of her grandfather Reuben, and his family in front of it. That was also sold with the house and has disappeared. Though I have a Picture I took of it with my camera. It is possible that Frank is a brother of Edith, or another branch of the family. There were a few Garretson families that I have found that lived both in Corbin City, Tuckahoe, or Petersburg. Though there seems to be none now. Hoping that you have found out more since the original posting. Please feel free to email back, and I will send you the list of names in the bible and can send you a copy of a newspaper article of Annie ingersoll,( by snail mail). I live down the road from the cemetery and when it gets warmer will make a trip down to see the graves. Kathy Notify Administrator about this message?
