Hoffman(Hopman)-Anneley/Anley/Amelly/Armelly/Auly

In 1850 Dennisville, near the Cape May-Cumberland county border,
lived the John and Hannah Hoffman family. Children included
William (ancestor of researcher Linda Vible); Deborah (researcher
Susan Chukinas) and
Susanna (mine). This post will also mention at least one name that
should interest Rick Veach and Tim McCorristin.
On this New Year's Day, let me resurrect the pursuit of Hoffman (of
Hoffman's Mill fame) in general, but focus on Susan's Deborah.

Susan has much more on Annely, but I'm trying to hone in on the
direct line from Deborah Hoffman, in hopes of finding someone who
might have her
photo, or even (am I dreaming?) a photo of John and Hannah.
I have just gone to the LDS website and gathered references to
Deborah and the Annellys, leaving the various spellings as LDS
volunteers entered them. The first stat, however, came from a NJ
marriage index on the NJ Archives website.

--Auly, Gifford       (married) Deborah, Ewings Neck, 6 August 1855,
Cumberland County: Maurice River, Bk. H: Pg. 388 (NOTE: Ewings Neck
became Delmont in the late 1800s.)

--GIFFORD ANNELEY OR ANLEY
Birth: 1789, New York
Marriage: Before 1826, Cape May, New Jersey
Death: 13 AUG 1854
Wife: Rachel MORRISON
Birth: 1799

--R. Veach once posted: " . . . Gifford Anneley, Sr. Is his father
John Anneley of NY. Also, info on Elizabeth Anneley (wife of
Charles Warwick). Is she Gifford Anneley, Sr.'s daughter." If
someone answered, I missed this.

--GIFFORD ANLEY OR ANNELEY
Birth: 1829, New Jersey
Spouse: DEBORAH HOFFMAN
Marriage: 06 AUG 1855

John and Eliza Anneley were having children about the same years,
but I picked up only those mentioned as ch. of Gifford Jr. and
Deborah:

--JOHN AMELLY
Birth: 16 DEC 1856, Dennis Twp, Cape May, New Jersey
Father: GIFFIN AMELLY
Mother: DEBORAH

-GIFFORD Jr. ANNELEY
Birth: 02 OCT 1859, Dennisville, Cape May, New Jersey
Death: About 1860
Father: Gifford Jr. ANNELEY
Mother: Deborah HOFFMAN

--GIFFORD ARMELLY
Birth: 26 DEC 1860, Dennis Twp, Cape May, New Jersey
Father: GIFFORD ARMELLY
Mother: DEBORAH

--HENRIETTE ANNELLY
Birth: 20 MAY 1862, Dennis Twp, Cape May, New Jersey
father: Gifford Annelly
mother: Deborah

--GIFFORD ANNELEY
Marriage: 12 AUG 1884 West Creek, Cumberland, New Jersey
Father: Gifford Jr. ANNELEY ((the 2nd one b. to Gifford Jr.?))
Mother: Deborah HOFFMAN
wife: Imelda E. SCULL
Birth: NOV 1868 (I got this from a Scull website)
Marriage: 12 AUG 1884 West Creek, Cumberland, New Jersey

--Gifford Anneley
Birth: 25 MAR 1884 ((before parents married)) Cape May, New Jersey
Father: Gifford Anneley
Mother: Imelda Scull

Seeing these early Gifford Annelys in Cape/Cumberland made me
suspect
a straight male line with that first name, but I discovered that

Susan once posted:

"I descend from Gifford Dally and Anne Pettit through their
daughter Sarah Dally who married Thomas Annely, a gunsmith, in
Philadelphia; then through their son Gifford Annely and his son
Gifford Anneley,Jr., then his son William Anneley."

Elsewhere it is stated by Susan: "Their son William Anneley married
Mary
Bozarth and their daughter Clara was my great grandmother who died

in 1982."

I copied the SSDI for Harry ANNELEY:
Birth Date: 15 Jun 1892
Death Date: Jul 1964
Social Security Number: 152-05-7937
State Where Number Was Issued: New Jersey
Death Residence: New Jersey

There was no Gifford Anneley, but being 8 years older than Harry,
perhaps he was too old to need an SS number.

I'm hoping the above compilation will facilitate discussion
on Hoffman-Annelley, plus renewed, separate pursuits of
Hopman/Hoffman in general. Often I worry that people have visited
only one or two websites, while critical info lurks on another.
