James B. and Rufus Adams - NY and NJ

I am looking for information on the family of James B. Adams b. abt. 1823 in CT or VT. James married Catherine (Catalina) Johnston in 1852 in NYC. James must have died around 1860, possibly in the Civil War. James and Catherine had one - son Rufus Adams b. abt. 1854 in Brooklyn, NY. Rufus married twice. His second wife was Helen L. Rufus had two children by his first wife - Rufus b. abt. 1883 (married Ruth Buckle) and Kathleene b. abt. 1885. In 1910 the family lived in Newark, Essex Co. NJ. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.
