I am searching for a Black woman who lived in Paulsboro, NJ. Her name was Mary Function (Functious??). She raised my grandfather, Joseph A. Carr.
Supposedly, my grandfather Joseph was adopted by this woman. I am not quite sure when but my grandfather was born in 1916.
As an adult, my grandfather brought his children to see his "mother" Mary during the summers. My grandfather married a woman named Lucy.
I could REALLY use someone's help with this. I am sure she died in Paulsboro. My mom states Mary must have died some time before 1968. I know I don't have much to go on but if you have any information, I would appreciate it.
