The New Jersey Archives, Abstracts of Wills, 1810-1813 has the following entry for Mary Orsmun / Orsbon; Nov. 12, 1812, Mary Orsmun, Bethlehem, Hunterdon County. Lists sons Smith, John, Samuel, William, Benajah, Daniel, and Ziba. Lists daughters Rebecca, Parmela, and Nancy (no married names given) She gives no indication of birth order except that Ziba is her "youngest son". Executor: friend, Edward Henderson. Witnesses - Jemima Smith, Sarah Robins, and Imla Drake. Proved May 22, 1813. May 10, 1813 - inventory made by Imla Drake and Jeremiah Bassett. I'm looking for any connections between the various Osman / Osmun families of Hunterdon County, NJ. Many of them probably come from the family above but by the time the 1850 census rolls around, these families are scattered throughout Hunterdon (and southern Warren) counties with no indications of connections between them. I wanted to know if anyone else researching the OSMAN / OSMUN families in this area managed to trace their lines back to anyone with names that look like the above. My line comes from a John and Rebecca (Bellis) Osman who came over into Lehigh County, PA around 1800. John was born in 1770, so he seems like the right age to be the above John but I haven't been able to prove this. There may also be family connections between Mary Orsmun and some of the witnesses but I have not found any. If anyone has any ideas, please respond to this message, or email me at mazerhead@aol.com.
