Dear J.NOVAK, Thank you very much for a response to my VAIL posting. As I did not have the parents of Elizabeth [HUNT],wife of SamuelVAIL-I was happy to get this. With this list of children, I can compare with those lists I have , and start sorting them out. The person submitting to Ancestry did not know much about early New York /New Amsterdam. There was no Bronx, although a Dutchman named BRONCKS had a farm,I believe ,and out of that came ,the BRONX about 1895 or so..So,none of the children were born literally,in -the BRONX. That area was in PATENTS at that time,or grants. The area came to be known as Westchester which became,I think, a ' Borroughtown'-under the English, later a village and the burroughtown became a Township. and much later- became 'the Bronx which may have been our last NYS. county. Some of the VAILS migrated over into east-coast New Jersey to Woodbridge and Elizabethtown. Now,that part of New Jersey is in Middlesex County,N.J..So, the Ancestry contributor was very confused here.YATES County was not formed until sometime after the REV.WAR and is west of the FingerLakes .One town there is Penn Yan. In the 1600's and early 1700's ,however, that land was all Indian wilderness. These Long Island HUNT parents could not possibly have had a child in Yates,New York, could they? Perhaps this message will get back to the submitter and allow for changes in their work. Nevertheless, I thank YOU for looking this up, ,J.NOVAK. It was kind of you. Charlotte J.
