Fred, several of my ancestors lived at Ash Swamp in the 1700's. It was part of Westfield and Rahway in Essex County at that time. If you go to the Ash Brook Golf Course entrance there is quite a nice interpretive marker that explains the battle and names some of the men who fought there including my ancestor Moses Tucker. Bob
