Thanks, Christopher. I have been to the NJ Room at the Alexander Library, and the earliest they have is the 1855-56 directory, which the NB Library also has (on microfilm). It does look as though any pre-1855 city directories, if any were ever published, have been lost or are in private collections. Tod
