The Red Bank Register for August 27, 1942 has on page six the obituary for John W Wallace resident of Keyport, age 93, born in Lynn, Massachusetts, buried in St Joseph's cemetery. Does not mention if he was a veteran
On page three under Here and There in Monmouth It has a paragraph on the death of John W. Wallace, 92, of Keyport, born in Massachusetts, who ran away from home at the age of 12 and joined the Union army and saw action at Antietam and Gettysburg.
I know you do not need a copy of the articles but if you wish to see them the Red Bank Register is online at the Middletown Library web site.
