I believe that I have found my GGGGrandparents in the 1860 census of Randolph, Morris, NJ. George OLMSTEAD is married to a Sophia (KENT) and is listed as a 67 yr old male who is not able to read or write. Sophia is listed as a 61 yr old female, and both being credited as being born in NJ. So this makes George's birthyear about 1793 and Sophia's about 1799. But I have not been able to find anything more about them. One of their sons,36 yr old Silas OLMSTEAD is living 3 doors away from his parents, and Silas is living with a Harriet OLMSTEAD. I assume that this is his wife and not his sister Harriet. For I have seen multiple years of census' that show Silas and his wife Harriet living in Morris county NJ.
A fellow follower of the message boards has emailed me and said that George OLMSTEAD and Sophia KENT were my Harriet OLMSTEAD's parents and that she had 2 brothers and a sister. These are the following names of the four children:
John Baldwin OLMSTEAD born about 1821 NJ
Silas OLMSTEAD born about 1824 NJ
Caroline OLMSTEAD---may have married a "LEWIS"
Harriet OLMSTEAD born in NJ about 1830; married Charles COOPER (b.1828, England) and moved to CT by 1860. I have found several census with Harriet and hubby Charles, and I have even found Harriet's siblings in the census'. I just don't have much on George and Sophia.
I come from Charles and Harriet's first son Eugene COOPER born in NJ about 1852. He is my maternal GGrandfather, and he married Sarah A. HOXIE about 1882 CT.
