Neil McKiernan had a son, Thomas, who was born 16 Jan 1826 in Paterson. Neil married Elizabeth Straight and died 10 Nov 1880 in Paterson.
In 1859, Thomas owned his home at 49 Prospect in Paterson and his occupation was shoemaker. His father, Neil, was living with him, as was Thomas’ brother, Neil Jr., occupation machinist.
In the 1880 census, Eliza is the head of household and still living in Paterson:
McKiernan Eliza, head, 79, NY, keeps house, parents both born NY
McKiernan Neil, son, 53, PA, hammersman
Jourdon Neil, other, 20, NJ, works at silk mill, parents Ire-NY
