Brian,

I was able to answer my question to you on how you connected Obidiah Robbins to Cohansey, NJ by reviewing all my Robbins files. I don't think either of the following men can be the Obidiah Robbins of Westmoreland, PA.

Obadiah Robbins b. 21 Oct 1761 in Burlington Co., NJ son of Nathaniel & Ruth Van Roome Robbins died 17 Dec 1831 in Sharptown, Pilesgrove Twnshp, NJ. His wife was Sarah Borden.

Obadiah Robbins b. ca 1784 in Sharptown, NJ died 26 Feb 1839 in Sharptown, NJ. His wives were Rebecca Morris & Mary Humphries.

Sources for the above are the Wills of Obadiah Robbins, Sr & Obadiah Robbins, Jr., Robbins Family Records by Charles Trucksess 1977 located at the Salem Co., H.S., Salem Co. Marriages by H. Stanley Craig, Robbins Family Records compiled by Charles E. DuBois of Newfield, NJ, Burials in the Pilesgrove Meeting House Graveyard.

I don't know of any documentation of a westward migration from Salem Co. I was told by another researcher that Michael Adelberg gave a lecture on Westward migrations from the mid- Jersey area, Mercer, Monmouth etc. at a historical society. I haven't followed up on it so don't have any details on it right now. I was also told mr. Adelberg was going to write a book on this subject.

I hope this information will help you a little with your search in Westmoreland Co. PA. & finding your link to your Robbins ancestors.
Sara
