Al, thanks so much for your response. My friend knows that there were Sandfords or Sanfords who left Bermuda and traveled to America. I think he has been looking for signs of them in the VA area...and for some reason (maybe ships' list passengers and destinations), he thinks or knows that some came to NJ.
He, and I, are from Sanfords who were in NC, and some came from VA...but we are having a hard time finding any sign of our ancestor in VA before 1747. So my friend is thinking: he could have come up through SC or down from NJ!!
Isn't the hunt fun? NOT! at timess!!!
