Who Does John Struble (1806-18??) married to Elizabeth Jane Tintle (1808-18??) belong to? He has been list as the son of John Struble Sr. (1753-1851) & Barbara Phoebe (Kays)Katz (1755-1852).
Facts:
1. John born in 1806 noted in 1850 census Morris Co. NJ (That would make Barbara 51 years of age at the time of John’s birth. Also Lavinia was born in 1806 so were they twins? Or is Lavinia’s birth year + or – a year?) She is also listed as having 2 other children Isaac & Simmon is her late 40s. Which at that time was pretty old let alone for bearing children.
2. Much of the records from the end of the Revolutionary War and to 1814 were destroyed by the British during the War of 1812. This would add confusion through lack of documentation for genealogical connection and leaving the sole evidence upon Family Bible evidence. One such bible destroyed in Chicago, Illinois in a basement flood in the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. Thought to be from the Johann D. or Conrad’s family Bible.
3. Many of Johann Deitrich’s sons that were born in Germany all had the first name Johann with a different middle name such as Leonard, Peter, or a compound middle name such as Heinrich Peter. This was much a German custom at that time period. We know Johann Deitrich by this name but he was also known as Peter or John. So could we speculate with some Johann Deitrich’s full name was Johann Deitrich Peter Struble? Possibly his Father Andreas was also Johann Andreas. Such a custom the Germans had in naming their son’s after the father & father’s father creates even more confusion by American’s who follow the Anglic practice of naming their children.
4. There are also that have been one or more of Johann Deitrich’s siblings (Johann Peter, Jochim, and Mathias) surviving the plague that struck Albig Germany in the late 1730’s may have made it to American shores. Some stories place Mathias as coming to America possibly with the aid of his brother only one can speculate. But there are marriage records no coming to light that Johann Deitrich’s immediate family were not the only Struble’s to immigrate to the Northern part of New Jersey.
5. Any of us who have done serious research know that finding all the material documents to support all our data is almost a impossibility and sometimes speculation is used for such an early period. The works of Frederick Langford’s, and other researchers of the early Struble family have been a major help for many of the Struble family researchers. But such as the great genealogist Bond & Savage their research can not be taken for 100% for there has been new information that showed errors in their research.
