Looking for any info on my grandfather George Gilbert Link.
Family story goes that he was stationed in the UK during WWII, met and fell in love with my grandmother and had a couple of kids with her (my mother and uncle). When he moved back to the US after the war my grandmother changed her mind at the last minute and stepped off the boat that would have carried her to him from the UK.
I never got the chance to meet him and he died in 1994
(May 14th).
I am led to believe that at one time he was the fire-chief of Rahway, NJ and online searching shows that he died there.
I did at one time manage to get his SSN but when I requested info based on that I was told no document could be found (guess I may have to travel and go look for myself sometime).
Right now though I am just looking to see if anyone knew him or has any info about him. I am starting up my family tree and need info about him to get over the first hurdle :-)
