It is now known that Elizabeth Erwine (1 Jan 1794-16 May 1875), wife of Joseph Henry Schoonover, Sr.(14 March 1791-13 July 1843), is descended from William Ervay/Erwine/Arnwine born 1775-1780 in Warren County, New Jersey. Catharine (Erwine) Wildrick, wife of George Wildrick, was her Aunt.
Joseph Schoonover and Elizabeth Erwine were married in or near to Stillwater, Sussex County, New Jersey about 1817. Their marriage record has not been located. They had 9 children born in Stillwater, NJ then moved to Comstock, Kalamazoo County, Michigan about 1835-1837. Elizabeth (Erwine) Schoonover died on 16 May 1875 in Vicksburg, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.
Records show that the surname Erwine evolved from and has also been documented as Arnwine, Erways, Ervay, Ervey and Erven.
