I have been doing some research and apparently some of the Nokes family from Bromsgrove did emmigrate to America, my side stayed in Bromsgrove but;
WILLIAM NOKES b1676 and d1733 he married RUTH b1680. their children were :
ANN b1708
MARY b1710
SARAH b1712
MOSES b1723
SUSANNAH
JOSEPH
ELIZABETH
WILLIAM
JANE and THOMAS.
william (the father) and ruth moved to USA with sarah, susannah and jospeh and sarah and susannah married quaker families and joseph was witness to one of them.
MOSES who was born in b1723 in bromsgrove he married HANNAH BRADLEY 12.5.1760 and they had 2 children:
ANN b1761 (she married joseph kings) and SARAH who died in 1763.
MOSES then married SARAH HUGHES in 1763 in Stoke Prior, bromsgrove. It looks like from records that HANNAH died during childbirth.
SARAH and MOSES had 9 children.
Joseph b14.8.1764 d27.8.1764
Thomas b1764
jospeh b26.2.1768
william b1770
sarah b1772
SUSANNAH b8.6.1775
MOSES b1777
john b1781
elizabeth b1782.
SUSANNAH b 8th june 1775 is the susannah who married joseph westwood jr. 26th august 1822 St Helen in worcester.
About a year later he married Ann Webley.
The bromsgrove parish records show susannahs burial.
SUSANNAH WESTWOOD, living at sidemoor (a neighbourhood in bromsgrove) buried March 30th, 1823.
susannah and jospeh were only married 7months
MOSES b1777 is the MOSES NOKES who formed the Little catshill baptist church. He married MARY SMITH and had 6 children, one of those is JOSEPH who seemingly abandoned his family and moved to america in about 1840.
as mentioned previously moses opened the church with JANE DANBY WEBLEY who could be a relation to ANN WEBLEY who married joseph westwood jr, his brother-in-law. which might be why they moved to the USA?
Hopefully this helps
