Like several other Noles’s I have been researching my surname for several years.
Like several other Noles’s I have been researching my surname for several years.I came across your Rockingham County Noles family on numerous occasions, and was able to find quite a few records and remarks.
I came across your Rockingham County Noles family on numerous occasions, and was able to find quite a few records and remarks.There was a William Noles (aka; William Noles Jr.) born in 1803 in southern Rockingham County, on the north side of Haw River. There was a deed reference that mentions the Wm. Noles place, that could have been his dad William Noles, Sr. (?).

John Noles married Rachel Grady on August 10, 1814.

He, the wagon, and his team were swept away to their deaths at the ford.

Lawrence Noles Jr. was living in Rockingham County, however he went down to Wayne County where he and two friends enlisted in the NC Confederate Army on June 1, 1862, for the duration of the war. They were assigned to the 45th Regiment of the NC State Troop’s. He and his friends fought in several engagements, all three were killed in action on July 1, 1863, at the Battle of Gettysburg.
