I don't know if there's a connection but my gt grandmother was Mary Ann Noon. She was believed to be from either Tuam or Mountbellew in Galway. She married Abram (Abraham) Leatherbarrow, a 'Striker' at the iron works, on July 30 1887 at Warrington parish church Lancashire. She was aged 19, he was 20. Her father was Michael Noon, deceased at the time of the marriage. Mary and Abraham had 14 children most of whom were born and lived in Newton-le-Willows (also known as Newton-in-Makerfield, or Ince-in-Makerfield).
Michael Noon married Margaret Raftery. There is a likelihood that Margaret Raftery was married twice, the second time following the death of Michael Noon. It is thought that she married Michael McGarry, whose mark shows he was a sponsor at the wedding of Mary Ann Noon to Abram Leatherbarrow.
My connection is through Abram's daughter Margaret, who married Terence Reilly (1893-1943), son of Charles Reilly. Both men were coalminers in the Haydock and Newton areas of Lancashire. Charles Reilly is reputed to have come from Longford, Ireland. His father, name unknown, was thought to have been in New Jersey, USA.
If anyone knows of other connections, please let me know.
Thanks. Geoff Reilly
