Noramn settlers in Virginia
I suppose the only thing we absolutely know about Norman is the came from somewhere else and settled near a potable water source. I also read inthis thread that Thomas married a McClung which makes me think there may be a connection as the Eastern Tennesse Library System has a McClung Collection at the libaray in Knox county.
The Culpeper Norman was in Knox County,TN before 1820 with six kids. Three boys and three girls. They were Benjamin, Alcie and James who was born after 1800. The Norman wife died and he married second a Ms Webber. The family bible is in the McClung Collection.
The Normans married Brownings several times. Browning, Jett, Triplett and Read were connected through land deals and marriages. Norman and Brayhill marrie a couple of times too.
My Norman comes from Gloucester, VA. There was a Norman with two sons in Mobjack Bay in the same county. Thomas and son Thomas were in Statford. Edge Hill has Normans and Towson's in the cemetery. Isaac Norman's mother was a Towlson/Towson. The only common name in these two families is William. DNA shows a match, but no one, inncludingme knows how for sure.
The Culpeper Normans went to TN and NC, and during the RW they were in the Carolinas and Georgia.
Who ever connnects the dots and writes the book will mame a lot of money.
It is believed Thomas and Joseph and anotherNorman came to Virignia about the same time from England. If this be the truth, the connection to
George Norman or Maryland is probably a cousin. But one never knows in this family.
