Obituary Charles Elmer Nowels
From Odebolt, Iowa Newspaper, THE ODEBOLT REPORTER, October 23,1885:
Mr. John Bruce arrived last evening from Fairbury, Nebraska to attend the funeral of C.E. Nowels.
In this same issue, same page is the following obituary:
Died at Odebolt on the 20th, of peritonitis, Charles E. Nowels, aged 22 years, 8 months.
The deceased was well known here, having a few years since been one of the editors of the Observer Newspaper and so contributed until the time of its suspension.He had been in poor health for nearly 2 years and a year ago he removed to Colorado, hoping the climate would benefit his health. He did not find the relief he sought. Since his return his health has steadily failed and Tuesday his rest finally came.
He leaves a wife, who has the sympathy of a wide circle of friends.
Mr. G.R. Nowels of Bagley, this state, and John Bruce Sr. of Fairbury, Nebraska were sent a telegraph of his death, both arriving in time to attend, which takes place today at 10 a.m. from the Presbyterian Church.
