Benjamin Nowland b 1 May 1731 to Daniel Nowland, St. Stephen's Parish
I'm looking for ancestors of Daniel Nowland along with concrete evidence of Peregrine Nowland being the son of Benjamin Nowland.
Here's what I know:
Daniel Nowland married a widow by the name of Mary Hill on 6 Jan 1713 at St. Stephen's Parish in Cecil County Maryland. There are birth records for three of their children, Thomas, Hannah and Benjamin with Benjamin being born 1 May 1731.
Somewhere I found a will for Thomas Beard whose daughter Sarah married a Nowland, Benjamin who was a witness to the will.SoI inferred that Sarah had married Benjamin.
As for Peregrine being the son of Benjamin and Sarah, here's my train of thought:
The 1790 Cecil County Maryland U.S. Census shows the following Nowlands in the area:Benjamin, Jacob, Jesse, John, Michael, and Peregrine. It is possible that one of the other Nowlands is Peregrine's father. If I had to guess, I would guess Benjaminas Peregrine and Rebecca's youngest son was named after him.Benjamin's household consisted of 2 males age 16 and up, 1 male younger than 16 and two females.Jesse had two males age 16 and up and 2 females.John with 3 males age 16 and older with 2 females, Jacob had one male age 16 and older and one female, and Michael with 5 males over 16 and 2 females.Further research on the original census shows that Benjamin was listed on page 318 line 142 with Jesse on line 143 and Peregrine on line 17.This is the listing for North Sassafras.Jacob was on page 319 line 104 which is Back Creek, Michael on page 322 line 72 which was North Milton and John on page 326 line 45 which is South Susquehanna.
Would appreciate any information as to where I go from here.Who was Daniel's father???Thanks.
