I'm seeking information about Andrew Vernon, b. about 1819 in Dumfries, Scotland. He married Mary (surname as yet unknown) there sometime before 1846.
I only know of three children:
-- James J. Vernon, b. Jan. 1849 in Dumfries, Scotland. He came to the United States in the 1870s and settled south of Boston, Massachusetts. He married Mary (surname as yet unknown).
-- John Vernon, b. about 1851 in Dumfries, Scotland. He also came the United States in the 1870s or '80s. He was a miner and died at Winnemucca, Nevada on 8 Nov 1888.
-- Elizabeth (Vernon) Wilkinson, b. between 1845 and 1847 in Dumfries, Scotland. [She is my great-grandmother.] She was a nanny in London at age 16. She later emigrated to the United States in 1875. Landing in Boston, she met another Scottish emmigrant, William Wilkinson, and married him on 4 Nov 1875 at Quincy, Massachussetts. They soon travelled across the continent to California, and settled north of the San Francisco Bay at Penngrove, California, in Sonoma county, where William was a stonecutter.
Any information on other siblings or their ancestry would be greatly appreciated.
