Unfortunately, not able to help with your request, but Nevada State Journal, July 21, 1903 did have this note in a column entitled Happenings of the State:
Through the columns of the Nevada City Miner we learn of the death of Fred Massie, at Cananea, Mexico by being caught in a cave-in in a mine at that place. Mr. Massie was one of the first young men to go to Tonopah and a baby girl born to his wife at that place was the first white child born there. --Appeal
