YOU MENTIONED TWINS...
WE KNOW THAT THEY CAN RUN IN FAMILIES..
I HAVE FOUND THAT SOMETIMES MEN GO BY THEIR MIDDLE NAMES..
USING THAT THINKING I FOUND SOMETHING INTERESTING..
YOU DON'T SAY IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO CENSUS RECORDS BUT HERE IS WHAT I FOUND

1930 United States Federal Census > New York > New York > Manhattan
NEW YORK FOUNDLING HOME (EAST 68TH STREET)
Edward Connelly 4 3/12 abt 1926 TWINS NY/IRELAND/IRELAND
James Connelly 4 3/12 abt 1926 TWINS NY/IRELAND/IRELAND
Agnes Connelly 1 NY/IRELAND/IRELAND
THESE 2 HAVE DIFFERENT BIRTHPLACE OR PARENT BIRTHPLACE INFO
John Connelly 2 2/12 CONN/IRELAND/IRELAND
Joseph Connelly 3 3/12 NY/UNKNOWN/IRELAND

NO WAY TO KNOW IF THE OTHERS {BESIDES THE TWINS OF COURSE} ARE ACTUALLY RELATED

You could send for his SS 5 application..if he knew his parents the info should be there...
This is how I found out that my maternal grandfather was an orphan...he had never mentioned it so we didnt know until after he died

in the hopes that there would be a Connelly with same birth info as Leroy's I ran that search ...this came up...of course it doesnt prove a thing...

Name: James H. Connelly
SSN: 029-16-8325
Born: May 1926
Died: 18 Apr 1985
State (Year) SSN issued: Massachusetts (Before 1951 )

this may all be way off base...

Regards,

Connie
