Reno Evening Gazette August 22, 1945 page 16 Joseph C. Dillard, for 33 years a contractor in Reno, died suddenly this morning. He was sticken with a heart attack and died shortly after reaching the hospital. He was born at Hicksville, California in 1885 and came to Nevada when a young man. For a time he engaged in contracing and building at Carson, the moved to Reno in 1912. Since that time he had erected many buildings and houses in Reno. Among them was the state building in Powing park, built for the 1927 highway exposition. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mayme Dillard of Reno; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Peterson of this city, and a son, Joseph C. Dillard, Jr., serving in the navy Seabees. The son left last week for his post in the navy after spending a leave with his parents here. Mr. Dillard was a member of Reno Lodge No. 597, BPOE. He is buried in Carson City.
