This easy-reader book is co-authored by Margaret K. and Charles M. Wetterer. It is a true story about the historical Blizzard of 1888. The authors relate how a young Milton DAUB who lived in an area of what is today the south Bronx ventured out in his neighborhood during the height of the blizzard to seek food for his family and also food and medicine for some of his neighbors. The simple text, descriptions of the neighbors, the neighborhood and colorful illustrations help bring this inspiring story to life for young readers.
Milton DAUB was the son of William and Mary DAUB. Other children of the family mentioned in the story are Ella, Hannah, Mickey (Maurice) and Jerome. Other real persons mentioned are Fred ASH, proprietor of the neighborhood grocery store and B. Tracy McKane, proprietor of the neighborhood drugstore or pharmacy.
I am not related to this family but thought family historians would find this children's book a little treasure to have.
