Hello Ruth:
Only a suggestion - Write to New York City - Dept of Health (Vital Records) and try to obtain Allen's Death Cert.
This will provide you with two things: Where he is buried and what funeral home was used. Some funeral home have 'open' records. You can ask if an obit was published 1) do they have a file copy or 2) obtain the paper's name and date of the obit.
