Not much data to be found on Altana, in 1850 the one in census Chautauqua CO is in STOCKTON looking like a dau of HEMAN BARBER she b ca 1836

in Poland 1850 one ALTA Barber ae 24 w/ Elnathan Barber ae 21 wife ALMA, 22, EMMA ae 2 Also here is one JOSEPH BARBER, ae 62 wife ESTHER, so I think that answers that question;note usually if this were ALTA's child she would be listed AFTER her name, not Alma's I gave you the names in order on paper;
also census data is famed for misspelling names;
