Thank you Dolores for your reply (I love the name Dolores, its my Mom's name too.)

I had considered Joseph L. Price up in Cherry Creek as a possible candidate for my Joseph's father. Andrew Young says he was an early settler in the area but he also says (along with Edson/Blaisdell in "History of Chautauqua County, NY" and John Downs in his "History of Cherry Creek" who confirms) that Joseph L. Price of Cherry Creek had 3 sons, John, Lawrence and David. I suppose it is possible though that Joseph L. Price and Salmon Price were related (possibly brothers.)

Another thing that originally pointed me to Salmon is that in a history of the Frewsburgh area I found a reference to a Benjamin Price selling a saw mill to George Wiltsie. George Wiltsie was a brother-in-law and close neighbor of my Joseph Albert Price. In an 1860's era map of the area there is a saw mill located between Joseph and George's homes along Wiltsie Run (just northeast of Fentonville.)

Now, this is relevant because by 1850 Salmon and Amy (ages 61 and 64 respectively) are living in La Salle County, IL and there is a Benjamin Price (age 38) living with them. (In 1860 this Benjamin is still living with Salmon and appears to have a son named Joseph.) If my Joseph is related to Salmon and Benjamin then the saw mill near his home may be the one that Benjamin sold to George Wiltsie and Joseph could be living on the remaining land that was originally owned by Salmon or Benjamin. I don't know if there is any way to verify that.

One "clinker" in this theory, however, is that also on the 1860 Federal census there is a Daniel Price (who has a son named Albert) living next to Salmon and Amy in La Salle Co., IL. This Daniel Price is listed as being 47 years old which is the same age my Joseph is in 1860. This Daniel also has children named Salmon and Amy so I think it is safe to assume he is Salmon's son. So, unless the age that is listed for Daniel is wrong or, Daniel and Joseph are twins, Salmon probably isn't my Joseph's father (although my Joseph and Mary Ann did have a set of twins themselves).

Another possibility, as you pointed out, is that the David Price who is listed on the same page as Salmon on the 1830 Federal Census for Chautauqua Co., could be Joseph's father. He does have a son of the right age. Unfortunately I have not been able to track this David Price any further or find any mention of him in any other sources.

Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it althoughj it still looks like I'm left with lots of conjecture.
