The general point of discovering photographs from Dunkirk and the Pennsylvania Oil Country in the same box is that extensive commerce existed between these two areas in the late nineteenth century. Dunkirk manufacturers shipped goods into the Oil Country. Dunkirk Mayor Hequembourg had been President of the Bradford Gas Company.
