Hi,
Im from Sweden and Im doing a genealogy research about my grandmothers family. I canīt seem to find any information about her father, Gottfrid (Godfrey) Holmbeck, and would be very greatful if anyone could help me. What I know about her family is this: They emigrated to Chautauqua and Jamestown around 1900-1905. Her fathers name was Gottfrid or possibly Godfrey Holmbeck and he was some sort of carpenter, born around 1880. Her motherīs name was Selma Teresia Holmbeck, born 1878 in Stockholm. My grandmother was born in Jamestown in 1907, her name was Doris Sofia Holmbeck. Her brother, Georg Julius Holmbeck was also born in Jamestown around 1909. In 1912, my grandmother and her mother and brother left Gottfrid and Jamestown and came back to Sweden. Gottfrid stayed in Jamestown and since that day, none of them ever saw nor heard anything from Gottfrid again. Ive searched all possible US and Swedish genealogy websites to find any information about Gottfrid, or any information from when my grandmother lived in Jamestown, birth, census etc. But I have not found anything. Iīve probably spent about 50 hours just trying to track Gottfrid, and Im about to give up. If anyone can help me, it would mean the world to me.
