I'm looking for the parents and siblings of William Henry Hopkins. His Civil War papers say he was born in Springwell, NY but I can't find this town anywhere.
Perhaps it's Springvale instead.
His father's name is probably William or Henry and his mother is of Gernman heritage. The date for his father's birth could range from 1780-1820. I'm assuming his father was born in NY but it could have been in CT or RI.
We believe he's descended from RI Gov. Stephen Hopkins 1707-1785 signer of the Declaration of Independence.
William Henry Hopkins married Kate Moore b1845 d/o George & Adelia Moore of Schenectady, NY on Dec. 28, 1864 in Andrew, Jackson Co., IA and had 5 children but only one son William B. Hopkins b 1865 Jackson Co., Iowa. He married Katie ?
May 1900 and we don't think he had any children. He was a druggist and owned 4 or 5 drug stores in Iowa, Piqua, Ohio, Bedford, Indiana and St. Louis, Kentucky.
