Smith-Gregory marriage 1860

Clinton County Marriage book, and church records show:
Place - Redford Assumption Church
Date - 07-MAY-1860
Groom - SMITH, Bernard [or Hilaire]
Parents - nothing listed
Bride - Gregory, Anna
Parents - Patrick Gregory [name was Platt, he is seen in church records as Patrick]

I haven't found any further records on Bernard/Hilaire Smith. Based on census there were at least three children, James born about 1859, Catherine about 1862 and Ella about 1863. I haven't found Anna in the 1870 census, but two fo the children were with her parents in Saranac and one with her brother in VT. Anna is found in 1880census records, as a widow living with a brother in VT. James indicates his father was born in Canada on census record--James settled in VT

I would love to find out who Bernard/Hilaire was, what happened to him, and whether there were any more children, and when Anna died. A bonus would be to find out what happened to Catherine and Ella.

Any help appreciated
