Well, some of the ones from Ellenburg, Clinton Co., NY and Chateaugay, Franklin Co., NY spelled their name Bleau when they first crossed the border form Canada. This family mostly came through the Champlain area. A few generations before that I find that some spelled their name Blau. My Great Great Grandmother was Julia (Blow) Bell, daughter of Pierre aka Peter Blow.
